On the 18th of March members of the Chariots of Destiny Organization met with the Kenyan ambassador to the US Honorable Elkanah Odembo at the Kenyan embassy headquarters in Washington, DC.  The ambassador who has been very supportive in advocating for the rights of people with disabilities in Kenya also showed his support to the UN Decade of Action for Road Safety by wearing the "Tag" the official symbol for the 10 year effort to save millions of lives on the world's roads.

On the 4th of November 2010 the Association of Kenya insurers (http://www.akinsure.or.ke/Home ) held their annual road safety award ceremony at the Hotel Intercontinental in Nairobi.  The purpose of this annual event is to bring together stakeholders and to recognize individuals and organizations that have contributed significantly towards road safety.

At this event graced by the Minister for transport honorable Amos Kimunya, the Chariots of Destiny Organization was honored to receive an award in the category of outstanding NGO advocating for road safety. 

Other award recipients included:-

  • Driving schools             Defensive driving schools
  • Motor commercials        Unilever tea, KARI
  • Private cars                   World Vision, CMC motors
  • Corporate companies    Total Kenya
    COD congratulations all the awardees and urges them to continue with the good initiatives.

On 14th and 15th March 2011 more than 100 NGOs from 48 countries across the world gathered at the headquarters of the WHO Regional Office for the Americas, Washington DC, USA to participate in the Second Global Meeting of NGOs Advocating for Road Safety and Road Victims. Chariots of Destiny Organization was represented by the Executive Director Casey Marenge. The meeting was officially opened by Dr. Mirta Roses Peragio, Regional Director of WHO AMRO. The meeting showcased the road safety work of diverse NGOs, as well as interactive discussions about best practice guidelines and future collaborations.
